One of Joe Banana's driver will meet you at port of Naples, he'll stand right in front of the gang way of your cruise ship with a sign and your name on it.
Then we'll drive by mount Vesuvius (one the most famous volcano in Europe) and by Sorrento Coast where we can have a couple stops to get beautiful pictures. Then we stop right in the main square of Sorrento where you can have one hour or more to explore this wonderful town.
To reach the beautiful town of Sorrento we will drive along the coastal road to its furthest point where spectacular views of the entire bay of Naples and the Island of Capri (that was once joined to Sorrento) are revealed as the Amalfi coast road emerges from over the mountain cliff.
Sorrento is a major shopping centre for the local people as well as tourists, with many shops normally open all day, every day in the summer, however during the low season they are open between 09:00am - 13:00 then 16:00 - 20:00, approximately.
This city has inherited the traditional Neapolitan pizza from their neighboring city, therefore the Pizzeria's in town are highly recommended.Sorrento, also being a city from the past, has an interesting history museum "Correale di Terranova" that can be visited in the morning.
Then we'll find ourselves driving down-hill directly through Positano we will descend down the winding one-way road, bypassing many picturesque houses and shops, and arrive in the heart of the town, at Piazza "dei Mulini" is the last point where we can get by car , we park our car and we walk downtown where all the streets leading to the waterfront are .Here we can have about one hour or more to discover this beautiful village denominated "the jewel of The Amalfi coast"
Positano has beautiful things to see :the cathedral, shops selling ceramics, lemons, shoes and "Positano fashion". Positano is alive at night as well as during the day with exotic nightclubs and various bars and cafés that remain open until the sun begins to rise over the horizon.
If you can, take advantage of the short boat ride out into the sea to take in the breathtaking sight of Positano at night, a truly magical experience.
After lunch and the visit of Positano we'll drive about 50 minutes we'll arrive at ruins of Pompeii, part of an ancient Roman city destroyed and buried by the eruption of the volcano Vesuvius in 79 A.D.
The remainder of the uncovered city is buried under the new Pompeii rebuilt many years after the eruption. Archeological excavations are open to the public between the hours of 08:30 and 18:30 every day of the week, and either guides can be hired at the entrance or headphones can be rented, with voice recordings in many languages to explain the sites.
Please note that since Pompeii is a popular area for tourists, we strongly reccomend being cautious of your belongings and leave valuables at your hotel or your cruise ship! We would also advise that you take plenty of water, especially in the summer months and ensure you are either well covered or well slathered in sun cream as there is very little shade in which to escape the sun.
After this beautiful archeoligical experience we'll drive back to the ship which rest about 25 minutes away.
