One of Joe Banana's driver will meet you at port of Sorento, he'll stand right in front of the gang way of your cruise ship with a sign and your name on it.
Then we'll drive by Sorrento Coast where we can have a couple stops to get beautiful picture.
After 30 minutes of drive we'll arrive at ruins of Pompeii, part of an ancient Roman city destroyed and buried by the eruption of the volcano Vesuvius in 79 A.D., is the first stop on this breathtaking shore excursion!
The remainder of the uncovered city is buried under the new Pompeii rebuilt many years after the eruption. Archeological excavations are open to the public between the hours of 08:30 and 18:30 every day of the week, and either guides can be hired at the entrance or headphones can be rented, with voice recordings in many languages to explain the sites.
Please note that since Pompeii is a popular area for tourists, we strongly recommend being cautious of your belongings and leave valuables at your hotel! We would also advise that you take plenty of water, especially in the summer months and ensure you are either well covered or well slathered in sun cream as there is very little shade in which to escape the sun.
After Pompei we'll drive to positano on the Famous Amalfi Coast, driving down-hill directly through Positano we will descend down the winding one-way road, bypassing many picturesque houses and shops, and arrive in the heart of the town, at Piazza "dei Mulini" is the last point where we can get by car ,we park our car and we walk downtown where all the streets leading to the waterfront are .Here we can have about one hour or more to discover this beautiful village denominated "the jewel of The Amalfi coast"
Positano has beautiful things to see :the cathedral, shops selling ceramics, lemons, shoes and "Positano fashion". Positano is alive at night as well as during the day with exotic nightclubs and various bars and cafés that remain open until the sun begins to rise over the horizon. If you can, take advantage of the short boat ride out into the sea to take in the breathtaking sight of Positano at night, a truly magical experience.
Back on the main Amalfi coast road and leaving Positano the coastal road begins and runs through , the fishing villages of Praiano, Furore and Conca dei Marini, and continues until it finally reaches the busy square of Amalfi (piazza del duomo) which is situated on the seafront.
In front of the port of Amalfi, there is the one and only bus station along the coast and the shopping area lies just behind this. If you would like to steep yourself in Amalfi's history there are some interesting sights to explore: one of the most spectacular being the cathedral situated along the coast, the paper mill museum.
Behind this square lies the main shopping street of Amalfi, that terminates at the furthest and highest point of the town. Along the pedestrian street are various bars and cafés, not to mention the many shops selling limoncello, casual clothing, swimwear, gifts, basic groceries, and of course, ceramics.
After this wonderful day we'll drive back to the ship which is approxmately one hour away.
